Radhika Apte’s Hair Oil Ad Lands Her In Trouble
Radhika Apte finds herself in trouble for alleged violation of celebrity guidelines laid down by ASCI. The actress starred in Marico’s True Roots Botanical Hair Tonic. In the commercial, Apte was shown endorsing the product with claims like, “Stop new grey hair”, “Jo naye safed balon ka aana roke, jad se”, “True roots ke 100 % natural extracts balonke jadonme jakar melanin bhadaye. 90 days tak regularly lagayen taki safed balon ka aana band ho jaye”, “Safed baalon ka jaldi aana jad se rokiye, with TRUEROOTS.”, “No New Greys in 90 days, get rid of premature grey hairs from the root.”

ASCI felt that these claims were not substantiated adequately. As per ASCI, even though the product may result in darkening of grey hair by virtue of Kesh Ranjak ingredients, the claims were discovered to be misleading by ambiguity and implication. The graphic on the ad and on the pack that depicted grey hair turning black was considered to be a misrepresentation of the actual product action.

Meanwhile, Radhika recently addressed nepotism in an interview with a daily. The actress said, "I don't like the word outsider. If I'm a director and my son wants to be an actor, why shouldn't I launch him? The industry today is a blend of both worlds. On one hand, there's Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone and Kangana Ranaut who were not born into a film family but have made it big and then there are the star kids."

The Andhadhun actress further stated, "I like that abroad you can go to drama school and then for auditions like everyone else for a role. It's a fair playing ground there. With casting directors in Bollywood, things are changing here too."
