Rahul Rawail Attacks, Amol Palekar Defends

The Oscar jury meet yesterday, which saw Rahul Rawail resigning from the panel after Court was chosen as India's official entry at the Oscars, continues to be a talking point (Rahul Rawail: I resigned from the Oscar jury, September 23).
This afternoon, Rawail lashed out at Palekar at a press conference. We then got in touch with Palekar for his version. Here are the excerpts:
Rahul: Amol first said that Court was the third best film.
Amol: I think we have selected the best film which will give us the award, which has eluded us so far.
Rahul: Amol's wife was present at the screenings and she influenced his thinking.
Amol: All members had been sworn to secrecy and I don't wish to breach that even now.
Rahul: Amol besharam aadmi hai, apni galti maan bhi nahi raha.
Amol: I have been in the film industry for 45 years, nobody has used such adjectives against me.
