Actor Rahul Roy's divorce with his wife-model Rajalaxmi Khanvilkar has come through.
When contacted, Rahul said, "Rajalaxmi and I are very much on talking terms. I have found a true companion for the rest of my life. But yes, we are not man and wife anymore"
Rahul, who made his debut in Mahesh Bhatt's Aashiqui, believes that he and Rajalaxmi were dragging their marriage. "I could see the separation coming."
SpotboyE.com has it that Rajalaxmi was not ready to settle in India. "That's right," said Rahul, "But more than that, I think we had drifted apart. The institution of marriage stopped making sense to both of us. We tried to hold on to our marriage to the best of our ability. We tried every possible trick to make things work- but in vain. But what's the point in doing things to please the society and make yourself unhappy? Certain things have a shelf life, our marriage was one such."
Interestingly, Rajalaxmi who has settled in Sydney is currently in India for a few days.
Rahul had married Rajalaxmi in 2000 after dating her for about two years.
