Ram Teri Ganga Maili fame Mandakini was known for her role in Raj Kapoor’s directorial, also starring late Rajiv Kapoor. Since then, the actor has done notable roles in other movies but have been missing for almost two decades. Now, it is reported that she will make a comeback to Hindi cinema. Mandakini’s manager has revealed that she is gearing for a comeback and has been reading scripts. She is also open to working in films as well as in web series. However, she wants to play the lead characters in the projects.
Her manager Babubhai Thiba spoke to ETimes and said, "Mandakini is definitely making a comeback and at present reading scripts and inviting narrations, too. She is open to working in web series and films, but wants to play central characters in the projects.” The report further said that it was Mandakini's brother Bhanu who convinced her to return to acting.
Bhanu said "When she would visit Durga Puja pandals in Kolkata, I could see that she still has a huge fan following. So, I told her that she must start acting again. She was offered the central role in a serial called 'Chhoti Sardani', which Mandakini refused but she suggested Anita Raaj’s name for the role instead.”
Her manager also revealed that she has expressed her desire to come back to acting and is choosing the right scripts for her return to Bollywood.
Meanwhile, Mandakini has worked in 48 films in her career. She has worked with Anil Kapoor and Madhuri Dixit in Tezaab, Govinda in Jung Baaz and Aakhri Baazi. Her last film was Zordaar which was released in 1996.
