Ranbir Kapoor and Hrithik Roshan As Ram And Ravan? Here’s The Truth
Interestingly, Hrithik was to play Ram in his former father-in-law Sanjay Khan’s The Legend Of Rama, an adaptation of the Ramayan to be co-scripted by Farukh Dhondy in 2008.
Hrithik Roshan has shown interest in playing Ravan in producer Madhu Mantena’s proposed Rs 350-crore web series based on the Ramayan. But the discussion, say sources, is all in the inceptive stage.
“There is nothing final about it. For years Madhu Mantena tried to convince Hrithik to do the Hindi remake of SS Rajamouli’s Telugu hit Magadheera. It finally didn’t happen.Now let’s see if Hrithik finally says yes to Ravan,” says a source close to the development.
As for Ranbir Kapoor as Rama, the report has no basis in truth.
Says a well-informed source, “Ranbir has not even been approached to play Ram. They(producer Madhu Mantena and director Nitesh Tiwari) are looking at various possibilities. But no one has been zeroed in as yet. Ranbir has shown no interest in playing Rama.So we don’t know where this information is coming from.”

I contacted Madhu Mantena for his comments. He chose not to respond.
