While Sanjay Leela Bhansali gears up for Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt starrer Inshallah, latest reports suggest that the National Award Winning director has found another leading man for his next production

Randeep Hooda Bags Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Next, Will Play A Cop
Randeep Hooda has bagged a Sanjay Leela Bhansali film. According to a report in Mumbai Mirror, along with working on Salman Khan and Alia Bhatt’s Inshallah, SLB will also produce a thriller with comic undertones. It will be helmed by debut director Balwinder Singh Janjua. Reportedly, the thriller is likely to go on the floors in August.

The report further states, “The film is a mystery thriller with comic undertones and is set in a small town. It marks the directorial debut of Balwinder Singh Janjua, who has previously written the Arjun Kapoor and Anil Kapoor-starrer Mubarakan, Kapil Sharma’s Firangi and more recently, the Tushar Hiranandani-directed Saand Ki Aankh featuring Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar.”


A source close to the makers told the tabloid, “Randeep plays a cop in the film which has a lot of twists and turns. Balwinder has been working on the script for a long time and recently started pre-production. He will start the recce shortly.” Source further added, “Randeep suits the role to the T and will begin his prep closer to the shooting date.”

Randeep Hooda starrer will be Bhansali’s fifth production after Tuesdays And Fridays, featuring Poonam Dhillon’s son Anmol Thakeria and former Miss India International (2014) Jhataleka Malhotra, untitled film with Jaaved Jaaferi’s son Meezaan and film editor sister Bela Segal’s daughter Sharmin, Abhishek Kapoor’s film on Balakot air strike and Inshallah.

Meanwhile, the actor made headlines recently as it was reported that Randeep Hooda was the first choice to play Kapil Dev in 1983 biopic. It was when the film was to be directed by Sanjay Pooran Singh. This was formally announced and the look test was done too. But due to some circumstances, the project went into the hands of Kabir Khan and Ranveer bagged the role. 

Meanwhile, Randeep Hooda will be seen playing love guru in Kartik-Sara’s romantic tale which is the 2nd instalment of Love Aaj Kal. The film, which is tentatively titled as #AajKal, is scheduled to release on Feb 14, 2020.
