Russia-Ukraine War: B-Town Celebs Javed Akhtar, Richa Chadha, Tillotama Shome And Others Express Their Concern At The Ongoing Crisis
On Thursday morning, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation in Ukraine, saying the action was in response to threats coming from Ukraine. The President launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine, unleashing airstrikes and sending troops deep into the country, claiming it’s intended to protect civilians. Amidst the ongoing crisis, many Bollywood celebrities have expressed their concern on social media and demanded justice. Stars including, lyricist Javed Akhtar, Richa Chadha, Tillotama Shome and Sonu Sood have shared their views about the crisis.

While Gauahar Khan said strong actions must be taken against ‘bigotry’ and ‘injustice’, Sonu Sood urged Indian Embassy in Ukraine to help evacuate students and families stuck there. Javed, on the other hand, tweeted, “If the Russian / Ukrainian conflict evokes a sense of fairness n justice , a humane desire to protect the weaker in them , Why all of the western powers are  totally indiffrent towards Saudi carpet bombings and atrocities on a small country like Yemen.”

Richa Chadha, in her tweet, mentioned that if "people don’t fight for freedom, we’ll be glorified serfs again". Actress Tillotama said that nothing is uglier than a war. She expressed her opinions writing, “I worry incessantly for my mother who is battling cancer in the midst of Covid. But when I think of the families and cancer patients in the middle of war, my brain just ceases to comprehend. Nothing absolutely nothing is uglier than war. Meanwhile, speaking about launching a military operation in Ukraine, Vladimir Putin said the “responsibility for the bloodshed lies with the Ukrainian regime.” So far in the Russian invasion, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reportedly said 137 people, including 10 military officers, have been killed and 316 people injured.
