Rutbaa: Zubeidaa Sequel To Bring Kapoor Sisters, Kareena And Karisma Together For The FIRST TIME Ever?
Reportedly, writer-director Khalid Mohamed is planning to bring the Kapoor sisters, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karisma Kapoor together on the big screen. As per reports, the sequel of the 2001 National Award-winning film Zubeidaa is in the making and Mohamed wants to cast the Kapoor sisters in lead roles in the film titled Rutbaa
The 2001 film Zubeidaa has a special place in our hearts and Karisma Kapoor shined throughout the film with her stellar performance as Zubeida Begum. The film went on to win the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Hindi and was written by Khalid Mohammed back then. Reportedly, writer-director Khalid Mohamed is now planning for a sequel of Zubeidaa and wants to cast the Kapoor sisters, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Karisma Kapoor in lead roles in the film titled Rutbaa.
Writer-director Khalid Mohamed is pretty busy with his work schedule and completing the script of the sequel to Ramesh Sharma’s New Delhi Times. Speaking with Pinkvilla.com, the writer-director Khalid Mohammed accepted the sequel for Zubeidaa is in the making and is also writing a novel called The Imperfect Prince, as an introduction to the Zubeidaa sequel. Khalid shared that he hasn’t spoken to the Kapoor sisters but hopes they consider his offer. He added, “It would be a fantasy for me to see them together in Rutbaa. I would also like to have a director matching my sensibilities to direct it.” Talking about Zubeidaa director Shyam Benegal, Khalid said, “There are very few left of the sensibilities of Shyam Benegal who know that culture and milieu.”
The writer-director also mentioned that if Kareena and Kareena agree to do the film he is sure it would work and added that if a sequel is made through his book, The Imperfect Prince, which is fact and fiction, Rekha, Anil Kapoor, Karisma, and Kareena would definitely be on his wish list of actors. As per a source in the report said, “Khalid had written the script of Rutbaa (The Honour) keeping Karisma and Kareena in mind. The sequel will make Karisma appear only in flashbacks as the main character would be Kareena who would be investigating her mother’s mysterious death.” While the writer is planning to bring Kareena and Karisma together for the first time and we love this already.
