Sadak 2: Not Romania, Alia Bhatt-Aditya Roy Kapur’s Film To Be Shot In Mumbai
Mahesh Bhatt along with daughter Pooja had flown to Romania to do recce for their upcoming film, Sadak 2 starring Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt. Since the makers were not happy with locations in Romania, they decided to shoot these portions in Mumbai itself
In September, last year, Mahesh Bhatt announced the 2nd instalment of Sadak (1991), which will feature the original cast- Pooja Bhatt and Sanjay Dutt- and the new jodi Alia Bhatt and Aditya Roy Kapur. The filmmaker had posted a picture which saw all the four actors along with him standing behind them. Earlier, during Kalank promotional interview, Alia had revealed that they will begin shooting for Sadak 2 in May. For which, recently Pooja and Mahesh Bhatt flew to Romania, where they had initially planned to recreate Mumbai, to scout for locations.
Now, the latest reports suggest that the landscape of the European country didn’t really meet their vision following which they decided to shoot the portions in Mumbai. Confirming the same to Mumbai Mirror, producer Mukesh Bhatt said, “Yes, it’s true. We didn’t find locations like Mumbai in Romania, so we would be shooting those portions here. The film will also be shot in other parts of India. The creative decision to not go ahead with Romania was taken by Mahesh, who is directing the film. We are putting up a set at Mehboob studio in Bandra where Sanjay and Alia will join us on the first day in mid-May.”
Before travelling to Romania, the team of Sadak 2 had reportedly also travelled to Kedarnath and Rishikesh for a recce too.
Well, apart from shooting in Mumbai, let us tell you, Alia Bhatt will be lending her voice for a song in the film. Confirming the same, Alia had earlier told Cineblitz,
“I will be lending my voice for a song in Sadak 2. There is a large and important chunk of the film that we will shoot in May.”
With Sadak 2, Mahesh Bhatt will return to direction after 20 years. He last directed Sanjay Dutt, Jackie Shroff and Manisha Koirala-starrer action-crime thriller Kartoos in 1999.
