Buzz is, Excel’s film starring Saif Ali Khan, Ananya Panday and Siddhant Chaturvedi is not happening- at least for now
There was never any official announcement made, but there were loose reports flying thick and fast that Saif Ali Khan will play Ananya Panday’s father in Rahul Dholakia’s next. Siddhant Chaturvedi (of Gully Boy fame) had blushed and not denied when I had spoken to him about doing this film in my interview.
This film, which was supposed to be produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani’s Excel Entertainment, is now not happening. It would have been exciting to watch Ananya and Siddhant together sharing screen space for the first time as they are both very promising actors.
On the other hand, it would have been equally exciting to see Saif play Ananya’s father: the Nawab of Pataudi pulled off Jawaani Jaaneman playing Alaya F’s father with aplomb. But then, certain things are not meant to happen- and perhaps, this is one such.

Meanwhile Rahul Dholakia has moved on to the Mithali Raj biopic starring Taapsee Pannu- which also should be an interesting venture on celluloid.
The 21-year-old daughter of Chunky and Bhavna Panday now has Khaali Peeli (with Ishaan Khatter) and Fighter (with Vijay Deverakonda, who played the title role in Arjun Reddy).
