This Valentine’s Day, moviegoers saw a new Jodi – Sara Ali Khan and Kartik Aaryan – in Love Aaj Kal helmed by Imtiaz Ali. However, the movie didn’t live up to the expectations and ended up struggling to cross even 50 crore mark. Sara and Kartik starrer which also starred Randeep Hooda in the villainous role had earned Rs 12.40 cr on Day 1, Ra 8.01 on Day 2 followed by Rs 8.10 cr and Ra 2.75 cr on Day 3 and Day 4. Love Aaj Kal received mixed reviews and was majorly liked by the young generation people.
While the film tanked at the box-office, Sara and Kartik were appreciated for their acting chops. During his latest interview with Mumbai Mirror, when Saif was asked about Love Aaj Kal’s failure, he said, “I am very proud of Sara. Hits and misses are a part of the game.”
Earlier, speaking about Sara and Kartik’s chemistry in Love Aaj Kal, daddy dearest had told Times Of India, “Both of them are tremendously popular actors. I'm sure you know people are going to flock to see the movie. With my daughter, I tried to crack a mildly competitive joke. I'm saying I kind of liked our more but obviously this is a completely different movie. And I don't think it's perhaps right to compare but, of course, the producers have chosen the same name and I am quite possessive over our film. I don’t want to come across the wrong way because of course what I said was a joke. A little bit of teasing is good.”
On the work front, Sara will next be seen in David Dhawan’s Coolie No. 1 with Varun Dhawan, while papa Saif is currently shooting for Bunty Aur Babli 2 and also has Bhoot Police lined up.
