Saif Ali Khan's 2012 Assault Case: Trial Against Actor To Begin Next Month After 11 Years In Case Related To Attacking South African Businessman-Reports
According to the latest media reports, the trial against Saif Ali Khan in an old case of assaulting a South African businessman will begin next month. After 11 years the trial in the case is likely to begin from June 15 and the court has issued a summons to the actor for the same. For the unversed, back in 2012, Saif and his two friends- Shakeel Ladak and Bilal Amrohi were accused of beating a South African businessman and his father-in-law at a hotel in Mumbai.

On April 24, the additional chief metropolitan magistrate, Esplanade court, reportedly read out charges against Khan and his two friends and also issued summons to witnesses for the recording of evidence. The complaint was filed by businessman Iqbal Mir Sharma on February 22, 2012, after an alleged fight took place at the Wasabi restaurant in Taj Hotel. The three accused got arrested and were later released on bail.

Saif was accompanied by his wife and actor Kareena Kapoor Khan, her sister Karisma Kapoor, actors Malaika Arora Khan, and Amrita Arora, and some male friends when he got into an alleged fight with the NRI businessman. As per the Police, the actor punched Iqbal Sharma in the nose, fracturing it after he protested the raucous chatter of Saif and his friends. The businessman also accused Saif and his friends of hitting his aged father-in-law Raman Patel.

However, in a statement to the media, Saif stated that he only acted in self-defense and dismissed all charges leveled by Sharma. The Omkara actor had said, “I am a law-abiding citizen. It was Sharma who started the fight and now he is lying with a straight face I hope the footage from the area can be examined as that will prove who is right.”
