Saira Banu Speaks For The First Time Since Dilip Kumar’s Demise, Shares A Note Ahead Of Their 56th Wedding Anniversary
Legendary actor Dilip Kumar’s demise in July broke hearts across the globe. Ever since then, his wife Saira Banu has kept away from the media glare. But ahead of October 11, which would have been their 56th wedding anniversary, she remembered the late Dilip Kumar and recalled the ‘magical day’ of her life.

In a note penned by her, Saira Banu told ETimes, "This October 11 is the 56th wedding anniversary of my Love and Kohinoor Dilip Sahib and I.”

Saira Banu thanked the fans for their love and wishes in the handwritten note and said, “I am writing this to especially express gratitude to the multitude of well-wishers, dearest friends and family who have so lovingly and thoughtfully sent us remembrance of this magical day for both of us. Dilip Sahib and I, when time stood still and the sky was lit with a million happy sparkling stars... our wedding, the beginning of a sharing of a life of ecstatic togetherness... and now no matter what, we still walk together hand-in-hand, in our thoughts and being until the end of time."

Dilip Kumar’s demise marked the end of an era. Not only did the actor revolutionise Indian cinema, but also went on to break many stereotypes that were once prominent in films. Saira Banu and Dilip Kumar married in 1966 despite an age difference of 22 years.

"Dilip Sahib has been that iconic guiding light not only for me but for all those generations who've stepped forward in their lives exemplified by his gracious presence and personality. Dilip Sahib is forever... Aameen. May Allah always keep him in his love and blessings... Aameen," Saira Banu added in the note.

When Dilip Kumar died, many actors - including Dharmendra, Amitabh Bachchan and Shah Rukh Khan - visited Saira Banu and paid their last respects to him.

In less than two days after his death, Saira Banu was admitted to Mumbai's Hinduja Hospital following breathlessness, high blood pressure, and high sugar. She was later moved to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) after doctors advised her for an angiography. She is now reportedly keeping fine.
