Himesh Reshammiya’s new discovery, a 55-year-old woman named Ranu Mondal is on roll. After being spotted by the singer-composer, Himesh offered her songs to sing in his upcoming film Happy Hardy and Heer. A while back, we reported that Ranu has been signed to sing yet another song in his film. Ranu Mondal became an overnight sensation when a video of her singing Lata Mangeskar’s Ek Pyaar Ka Nagma Hai at the Ranaghat station in West Bengal, went viral. Later, there were also reports that Salman Khan has reportedly gifted a flat to her and also given her a chance to sing a song in Dabangg 3. But in a recent interview, Ranu’s manager has denied all the reports of Dabangg actor gifting anything to her.
Atindra further revealed that Ranu has been showered with offers from Bollywood, Bengali and South Indian film industries. He further told HT, “Just a day before, we got a call from AR Rahman’s office. Sonu Nigam has also shown interest in collaborating with Ranuji. We’ve decided to concentrate on these offers right now, along with Bollywood offers.”
Talking about her becoming an overnight sensation, Ranu told
HT that she is not able to grasp what all has been happening around her. She
said that it feels great to see people showering her with so much love and
looking forward to working with her. She concluded, “I am letting Atindra take
care of everything. At this age it’s very difficult for me to understand all
these; I don’t even have a phone. So, he’s guiding me. He is like my son.”
