Salman Khan has been convicted in the 2002 hit-and-run case. While the accused pleaded not guilty, the judge found him guilty of all the charges against him, including driving under the influence of alcohol and culpable homicide. The judge told him, "All charges against you are proven. Court has come to conclusion that you were driving the car under the influence of alcohol."
The judge even compared the case to the previous Alistair Pereira case.
Salman listened to the verdict with tears in his eyes. He reportedly held on to the sides of the witness box and looked at his family for support, as soon as the verdict was given. Sisters Alvira and Arpita broke down in tears in the courtroom.
The defence has said that it is ready to pay whatever compensation the court deems fit for the case.
