Prolific director Sanjay Leela Bhansali has lit up our Diwali by announcing his next project which is going to be Baiju Bawra. While the epic reunion of Salman Khan and Sanjay still remains to be a dream for all the fans out there, the latter decided to collaborate with the lead of Inshallah, Alia Bhatt for Gangubai Kathiawadi. As this news itself got us all psyched about the film, we hear that Alia will be sharing screen space with Ajay Devgn for the first time in the film. Talking about Baiju Bawra, though SLB didn’t announce the cast of the film, it is reported that his favourite Ranveer Singh might star in this film. That’s right!

According to Bollywood Hungama, SLB has offered the lead and title role of the young Baiju Bawra to Ranveer and Tansen’s role to Ajay Devgn which he reportedly turned down. A source was quoted saying by the portal, “While Gangubai Kathiawadi is more of a dark emotional, action drama of the world of brothels, crime, dons and rich men who visit the world of brothels, Baiju Bawra is a purely musical and a dramatized version of the story of the uniquely talented singer Baiju Bawra.”

The source also said that the filmmaker thinks that no one can play the passionate, emotional, deeply vengeful and yet intensely romantic Baiju other than Ranveer. The source further revealed that for the leading lady, the filmmaker might be Deepika Padukone or Priyanka Chopra. Since Priyanka holds an acclaimed singer position globally, the makers might cast her for the film. Ranveer and Sanjay have worked together in Goliyon Ki Raasleela – Ram Leela, Bajirao Mastani and Padmaavat.

It is reported that Ranveer is yet to give a nod to this and well if he does then this would be the fourth collaboration for this duo. Knowing this director-actor duo, we are sure we will expect some fireworks in this film as well.
