Pictures of Shabana Azmi being lifted after her car accident at Panvel have made me immediately call MGM Hospital at Kamothe, Navi Mumbai where she has been admitted. Some say that Javed Akhtar was also in the car. Just the other day, we were on the same flight from Indore. I tried calling him ten minutes ago- but his phone is off.

MGM Hospital confirmed to me that they have wheeled in Shabana, about 30-45 minutes back. An official said, "Unko neck pe chott lagi hai. Hum unko abhi CT Scan and USG(Ultrasonography) ke liye lekar ja rahe hain. We cannot say anything before we get the results of her tests."

"Shabanaji otherwise is fine. Her vital parameters are okay. She is very much talking and in her senses," said another official.


This afternoon, Shabana's car rammed into a truck from behind. The accident occured near Panvel. The car, as evident fron the pictures, has been damaged quite severely. Considering the impact and the fact that it was a truck in the front, one can imagine the jolt that those sitting in Shabana's car must have received.

The driver is also said to have received injuries.
