Shahid Kapoor's Jersey Finds Its Leading Lady; Mrunal Thakur Is The Actor's 'Bandi' In The South Remake
After Kabir Singh, Shahid Kapoor has signed yet another South remake, titled Jersey.Now, according to a report, Mrunal Thakur has been roped in as Shahid Kapoor's leading lady for the Hindi version of the Telugu film
Shahid Kapoor has had a great year, with his latest release Kabir Singh being a blockbuster hit. The film went on to break many records and after its massive success, looks like South remakes are the flavor of the season. While Kabir Singh was a Hindi remake of Arjun Reddy, now Shahid is all set to play the lead role in yet another South remake, titled Jersey. His role in this film is quite contrasting to the one in Kabir Singh, and in Jersey, Shahid Kapoor will play a cricketer in his mid-thirties. Now, according to a report in Mumbai Mirror, Mrunal Thakur has been roped in to play Shahid Kapoor's leading lady in the film.
Mrunal Thakur, who made her film debut with her impeccable performance in Tabrez Noorani and David Womark's Love Sonia. After which, she was seen in Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30, and later in Batla House alongside John Abraham. Now, the actress will play the role of Shahid Kapoor's lady love in Jersey. Mrunal Thakur told Mumbai Mirror that she watched the Telugu original and can barely contain her excitement for lading this role.She said, "“So deep was the impact of the film that I couldn’t get it out of my heart the whole night, and immediately watched it again the next day. Meanwhile, director Gowtham Tinnanurri said that Mrunal Thakur was always the first choice and that after Shahid was on board, he only considered Mrunal for the leading lady.
He said that he had loved Mrunal's performance in Hrithik Roshan starrer Super 30 and that she is a perfect fit for Jersey.
