Shahid Kapoor Takes A Pay Cut For Jersey, Drops His Remuneration From Rs 33 Cr To Rs 25 Cr - Report
Makers of Shahid Kapoor starrer Jersey will be shelling out lesser remuneration for the actor as he would reportedly be taking a pay cut post the COVID-19 outbreak
COVID-19 pandemic got the world to a standstill, followed by many businesses facing financial crunch. Filmmakers too who are planning to resume the shoot of their incomplete projects are experiencing surge in their budgets in order to maintain hygiene and follow safety measures due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. In this situation, while few actors continued to work as per amount agreed by them before the pandemic, Shahid Kapoor has agreed to take a pay cuts.
As per reports in Pinkvilla.com, the actor had earlier signed his upcoming movie Jersey on two conditions- first fees to be Rs. 33 cr and secondly his share in the profits, has now slashed his fees by Rs 8 cr, agreed to shoot the film now in 25 cr, while the profit sharing condition remains the same. This cooperation by the actor has provided a big relief to the producers, thus allowing the film to continue the shoot, without going over budget.
A close source to the publication was quoted saying, “Shahid had previously signed Jersey on two conditions - a remuneration of Rs 33 crore and a percentage in the profit share. The makers had mutually agreed on the same demands and the film shoot was on when the Covid outbreak caused a temporary pause in the film's schedule. In the last few months, the whole perspective of making a film and its budget has changed considerably. So the producers requested their lead star to take a pay cut, to keep the project on floors. They felt the film will otherwise go over-budget.”

The source further added, “Shahid has slashed his fees by a whopping Rs 8 crore and is now charging them Rs 25 crore. But he is also very confident of the film's success given the way they are shooting it.
