Shahid Kapoor To Play A Cop In His Second Stint On The OTT Space, A Film Helmed By Director Ali Abbas Zafar-Report
Shahid Kapoor’s upcoming film with director Ali Abbas Zafar is reported to be a remake of Nuit Blanche (Sleepless Nights in English).
Shahid Kapoor is on a career high these days, with his last release, Kabir Singh seeing an overwhelming response despite all the controversies around it. The 40-year-old actor has an interesting line-up of projects, and he is all set to impress cinegoers even more. While Shahid is already on his debut web series, Raj-DK's untitled thriller, he has also signed up for another stint on the OTT space, a film with Ali Abbas Zafar.
A recent report has now spilled some interesting details about Shahid’s upcoming project. "Ali got the rights to remake Nuit Blanche (Sleepless Nights in English), a film that stars Tomer Sisley as the lead. The 2011 action thriller revolved around the life of a cop whose connection with the underworld comes out in the open when they try to steal drugs from a powerful drug lord, leaving his child's life in danger. How he saves his child forms the rest of the story,” a source was quoted as saying to Bollywood Hungama.
The source also mentioned the details of Shahid’s character in the Ali Abbas Zafar-helmed project and said, “Here, mostly, Shahid will play the cop who tries to save his daughter who gets kidnapped following his tryst with a gangster or drug lord. The film has been altered a bit keeping the Indian mind-set in place."
Interestingly, before Shahid Kapoor was roped in for this movie, it was being speculated that the makers of ‘Sleepless Nights’ remake had offered the film to Abhishek Bachchan. In 2019, rumours were rife that Abhishek will step into the role of French actor Tomer Sisley for ‘Nuit Blanche’ but it seems like Shahid has bagged the opportunity.
Sharing more details about the film, the source added, "It's a story that spans an entire night. It's about one night and how Shahid's character fights everyone to save his daughter. It's a carefully crafted thriller that will be made for the digital friendly audience and will be Shahid's second stint on the web. A top actress is also currently being spoken to for the main female lead."
Work-wise, Shahid has completed shooting for his next, ‘Jersey’ with filmmaker Gowtam Tinnanuri. The upcoming sports drama is a remake of 2019 Telugu film by the same name. Shahid essays the role of a cricketer in ‘Jersey’, which also stars Mrunal Thakur and Pankaj Kapur in pivotal roles. Apart from that, Shahid has a quirky drama series directed by Raj and DK, with Raashi Khanna playing his leading lady. The series also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Regina Cassandra.
