Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt’s film Shamshera was scheduled to hit theatres on July 31, 2020. In the wake of the Coronavirus pandemic, as the lockdown in the country was imposed, many films and TV shows were stalled immediately. If Coronavirus would have never happened, Ranbir and Sanjay Dutt’s Shamshera would have released in theatres in just a few days. As per reports, due to hike in COVID-19 numbers in the last week, the shooting of Shamshera that was scheduled to begin from August 1, has gotten affected due to the pandemic, once again.
According to an ETimes report, Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt’s film Shamshera’s shooting that was stalled due to the lockdown was scheduled to re-start from August 1 onwards. The report states that Yash Raj Films and director Karan Malhotra had planned to resume and complete the balance proceedings of the film from August 1. Although the date was set quite earlier, the report claims that the makers had been hush-hush about it.
Moving on, as there is a rise in the COVID-19 numbers since the past one week, due to the spike in positive cases, the shooting of Shamshera is delayed once again. As per the report, the makers and the unit are planning to wait it out for at least 15 more days to resume filming again. FWICE General Secretary, Ashok Dubey also confirmed the delay and mentioned it is by a fortnight. He said, “Yes, there has been a delay by a fortnight as far as 'Shamshera' is concerned. The shoot for its remaining portions will now begin around August 15."
Meanwhile, in terms of balance proceedings of Ranbir Kapoor’s Shamshera, about 4 to 6 days of work of a few scenes and patchwork is to be completed. The film also stars Vaani Kapoor, Ronit Roy and Iravati Harshe, apart from Ranbir Kapoor and Sanjay Dutt. Shamshera is set in the 1800s and Ranbir will be seen playing a double role in the movie.
