The release date of ‘Shamshera’ starring Ranbir Kapoor, Vaani Kapoor, and Sanjay Dutt, has been announced. Karan Malhotra’s directorial that marks Ranbir’s return to films after 4 years, will hit the theatres on July 22, 2022. The makers also released an intriguing teaser- an announcement video that looks quite promising. “A legend will rise on 22nd July”, Yash Raj wrote while unveiling the teaser and release date on their official YouTube Channel.

The minute-long teaser shows the three main leads, Ranbir, Vaani, and Sanjay with their powerful voice-overs, giving a glimpse of dacoit's intriguing tale. The teaser starts with Dutt’s powerful voice narrating the story of ‘Shamshera’ who believes that slavery is not good for anyone, neither for one's own nor for others. He can be heard saying in the clip, “This story is of the one who said slavery of anyone is not good, neither of others nor of the people close to us." Vaani then adds, “This story is of the one who earned a dream about freedom in his father's legacy.”

Narrating the story on a chair with guns and rifles laying on the floor, Ranbir Kapoor’s impressive dialogue delivery in the trailer is something that is not to be missed. Soon after the makers dropped the trailer, fans were quick to take the comments section with a storm. A fan commented, ‘Ranbir Kapoor always impresses us through his powerful acting skills’, while the other wrote, ‘Ranbir nails every role he plays.’

Set in the backdrop of the ’80s, the story of Shamshera is based on a dacoit tribe who fought for their rights and independence from the British.

On the occasion of Ranbir’s 39th  birthday, the makers had released the poster of Shamshera that depicted the actor sporting an intense look with a mark on his forehead. In an interview with PTI, the Rockstar actor had talked about the film and said that it is not the story of a 'daaku', but it’s a great story of heroism rooted in our country that actually happened back then.
