Shark Tank India's Vineeta Singh shared her perspective on the controversial movie Animal, mentioning her usual support for exploring darker themes in cinema. However, she expressed dissatisfaction, feeling that the film's lead character didn't face adequate consequences for his negative actions. In a recent interview, she drew parallels with her sentiments about the movie Kabir Singh, which was also directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, stating similar thoughts about the protagonist's behaviour. Vineeta, known for her role on Shark Tank India, recently shared thoughts on Ranveer Allahbadia's podcast regarding the film Animal. She expressed a view that aligns with the belief that a fictional character, irrespective of the actor portraying them, remains a fictional creation. She highlighted examples from Hollywood, citing Quentin Tarantino's movies, and discussed her conversations with friends about movies like Kabir Singh and Animal. Additionally, she noted the prevalent theme in Indian cinema where the antagonists usually face consequences in the end while emphasizing the victory of the protagonist. WHAT? Pointing out the problematic nature of Animal, Vineeta said, "I feel the real problem with both these films, Kabir Singh and Animal, is that the toxic protagonists get away with it in the end. In India, we need that closure, we need to see the karma. We’ve grown up on the Mahabharata, this is what we believe in. Unfortunately, both these movies allow their extremely negative characters to get away with it. They’re beautifully shot, but… They aren’t made to suffer the consequences of their actions. Look at Shah Rukh Khan, he played so many dark characters, but it wasn’t the same, was it? He wasn’t celebrated."
Animal's global earnings have surged close to Rs 900 crore, securing its position as the third most significant Indian blockbuster in 2023, trailing Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan and Pathaan. Despite the film's A-rated rating, it stands as the most successful outing in Ranbir Kapoor's career to date.
