Shashi Kapoor is the 46th winner of the honour conferred by the government for outstanding contribution to the growth and development of Indian cinema.
This morning, Information & Broadcasting Minister Arun Jaitley flew down to Mumbai to confer the award to the veteran actor who could not travel to Delhi for the ceremony held on May 3.
Shashi Kapoor is the third member of his illustrious family to have received the award after father Prithviraj Kapoor and elder brother Raj Kapoor.
The event held at Prithvi theatre (Juhu) was attended by Bollywood stars Amitabh Bachchan, Rishi Kapoor, Ranbir Kapoor, Hema Malini, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar, Abhishek Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan, Karisma Kapoor and Shyam Benegal among many others.
