Actor Sidharth Malhotra who portrayed Captain Vikram Batra in Shershaah never met Kargil war hero’s lady love, Dimple Cheema. However, the actor hopes the film brings a smile to her face. He appreciated her for the sense of privacy and pure love she had for Vikram Batra. Though Vikram Batra and Dimple Cheema never got married, she lived the life of his widow. On the contrary, actress Kiara Advani who played reel life Dimple Cheema met real-life Dimple before the shoot started.
As reported in TOI, Sidharth said, “I never met her, but I am hoping that she's watched Shershaah and smiling. I am sure it is a very difficult watch for her as well but I really appreciate her sense of privacy and the purity she has for her love for Captain Vikram Batra.” Sidharth’s face instantly lit upon being asked if he hopes to get a National Award for Shershaah. He responded he is enjoying his work currently and not thinking about it.
Sidharth said, “That’s so sweet, I am so happy that you think so (smiles). But right now I am just enjoying the fact that people are enjoying my work and the craft. I think it’s one of the most prestigious awards that an actor can receive from the government. I am not really thinking about it as of now, but just really soaking in the love and the appreciation that is coming to the film.”
Sidharth Malhotra portrayed a double role in the movie of Captain Vikram Batra and his brother Vishal Batra. Shershaah premiered on Amazon Prime Video on August 12, 2021.
Helmed by Vishnuvaradhan and backed by Karan Johar’s production banner, the movie has garnered a positive response from the critics and the audiences alike.
