Shilpa Shetty-Raj Kundra IPL Scandal In Calendar Girls

Trust Madhur Bhandarkar to include outrageous real-life episodes in his film. His latest offering Calendar Girls, up for release, is no exception.

We were the first to tell you that the National Award-winning filmmaker has modelled one of his characters (Satarupa Pyne) on Simran Sood who got embroiled in the IPL controversy
(Expose! Calendar Girl Satarupa is IPL honeytrap Simran Sood, August 20).

And if you thought Madhur's movie is stirring only one IPL controversy, you couldn't be more wrong. You know Madhur - when it comes to scandals, he will go the whole hog.

So there's another IPL lady who will find herself in the movie. Shilpa Shetty, are you there? Yes, it's you!

SpotboyE has it that debutante Akanksha Puri's character is based on the actress. We bet Akanksha sounds familiar - yes, she is the same girl who worked as an air hostess for Kingfisher Airlines and was handpicked by Vijay Mallya himself.

Coming back to the film, it will trace the recent episodes in Shilpa's life - from her tying the knot with her businessman boyfriend Raj Kundra to owning an IPL team and finally, leading to the betting controversy.

For those who don't remember the scandal, here's a quick refresher. In 2014, Supreme Court-appointed panel headed by Justice Mukul Mudgal had recommended a probe against Rajasthan Royals' owners, Raj and Shilpa with regard to the IPL spot-fixing scandal.

In July this year, Kundra was found guilty of betting. He was suspended for life from all cricket matches relating to BCCI and declared ineligible to participate in any cricket activities for 5 years.

Shilpa, on the other hand, had reportedly paid a hefty sum of Rs. 5.7 crore to Rajasthan Royals' parent company, Jaipur IPL Cricket Pvt. Ltd. (JIPL) in 2010-11. No sooner was the Mudgal probe announced than the amount was returned to her bank account, thus casting aspersions on her.

So how much of this will find its way into Madhur's film? More importantly, how will Shilpa take to this?

After all, the two have been good friends with Madhur having even attended her wedding reception. Will this become a bone of contention between the two? Let's wait and watch.
