As per the latest media reports, actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has received a notice over non-payment of non-agricultural (NA) tax from the Maharashtra government. The actress was issued the notice for her land parcel in the Sinnar district near Nashik city. Reportedly, the actress has to pay Rs 21,960 for 1 hectare of land that she owns in Adwadi village. Aishwarya has informed the concerned officials that she would pay the tax by January 18, 2023.

According to the notice dated January 9, 2023, Aishwarya is yet to pay Rs 21,960 for her land parcel in Nashik. It is being said that the outstanding amount is for one year period and it is supposed to be paid within 10 days of the time limit. Indian Express quoted Sinnar tehsildar Eknath Bangale as saying, “Legal advisor of the actress met us today and told us that the tax will be paid by tomorrow. She has invested in a windmill. The land was bought in 2009. She has paid the tax for all these years. Only the tax for this particular assessment year is pending.”


Adding to this, he mentioned that their revenue assessment year starts in August. The tehsildar also informed that they have sent Aishwarya a demand notice twice but there was no response from her side. “Now on January 9, we have again sent a notice to her to pay the tax. We had given her 10 days time, but now her advisor told us that the tax will be paid by tomorrow,” Eknath Bangale further stated.

To note, the Devdas actress was not the only one to receive the notice as it has been issued to more than 1,200 defaulters. Collections against unpaid land tax will be done by the end of the ongoing 2022-23 fiscal year by March 31.
