It’s said that death is not for the dead but for the living, and it brings immense pain to the people the dead person leaves behind. It always feels sudden and unfair whenever it occurs, but the times when a young person in their prime is taken away, it stings a little bit more. And the Hindi film and TV industry has been prone to this loss quite a few times.

Sidharth Shukla

The whole nation fell into a state of shock yesterday when the news of Sidharth passing away due to a cardiac arrest came out. The actor was just 40 and was enjoying the peak of his success ever since his Bigg Boss 13 win. His loyal fans are still not able to deal with this loss and honestly, so have we.

Sushant Singh Rajput

Sushant passed away a year ago, but the wounds still hurt fresh. The actor had led a successful career in both TV and films with shows like Pavitra Rishta and films like Kai Po Che!, Kedarnath, Chhichhore and MS Dhoni: The Untold Story to his name. He was just 34 when he bid adieu to this world. His death still remains a mystery.

Pratyusha Banerjee

Pratyusha became a shining star of the Hindi TV world with her stint as Anandi in Balika Vadhu. She gained immense praise and was also co-incidentally Sidharth Shukla’s love interest in the show. She also took part in Bigg Boss 7, but in 2016, the actress died by suicide at the mere age of 24.

Divya Bharti

Divya started her career in showbiz when she was just 16-years-young with a Tamil film. In her short-lived career of three years, the actress starred in 20 films spanning over three languages, and she became a star in Hindi cinema with her performances in films like Vishwatma, Shola Aur Shabnam, Deewana and Dil Aashna Hai. But as fate intervened, Divya left the world at the age of just 19.

Jiah Khan

Jiah started her film career opposite Amitabh Bachchan in Nishabd and went on to work with big names like Akshay Kumar in Housefull and Aamir Khan in Ghajini. However, when she was just 25, the actress left this world as she reportedly died by suicide.

Smita Patil

Smita has been regarded as one of the finest talents of the Indian film industry ever since she made her debut. She is a recipient of two National Film awards as well and did films like Manthan, Bhumika, Aakrosh and Ardh Satya. However, at the age of 31, the actress died due to childbirth complications while giving birth to her son, Prateik Babbar, who took her acting legacy ahead.

Guru Dutt

Dutt had several feathers in his hat as he was an actor, director, producer, choreographer and writer and his most notable works include Pyaasa, Kaagaz Ke Phool and Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam. It was at the age of 39 that the actor was found dead in his rented apartment.

Meena Kumari

Popularly known as ‘The Tragedy Queen’, Kumari has been described as a ‘historically incomparable’ actress by the critics and has worked in masterpieces like Sahib Bibi Aur Ghulam, Pakeezah, Parineeta and Baiju Bawra. However, three days after Pakeezah’s release, the actress fell seriously ill and subsequently fell into a coma, finally succumbing to it on March 31, 1972. She was just 38 at that time.

Madhubala is still considered one of the most beautiful faces to have come out of the Hindi cinema. She mesmerised the audience with her beauty and histrionics as Anarkali in Mughal-E-Azam. However, even though she was facing professional success, in her personal life her health was deteriorating and just nine days after turning 36, she finally succumbed to it.
