Six Days After Rishi Kapoor's Death, His Wish Gets Fulfilled! -EXCLUSIVE
At a time when people across the world have been pandemic-and-panic struck and running amok to stock food to last the lockdown period, Rishi Kapoor had felt the government should allow liquor shops to function in the evenings to prevent black marketing.

Rishi, who left us for his heavenly abode last Wednesday, had taken to Twitter to write: "Think. Government should for sometime in the evening open all licensed liquor stores. Don't get me wrong. Man will be at home only what with all this depression, uncertainty around. Cops, doctors, civilians etc... need some release. Black mein to sell ho hi raha hai."

Seconding this with another tweet, he'd said: "State governments desperately need the money from the excise. Frustration should not add up with depression. As it is pee to rahe hain legalize kar do no hypocrisy. My thoughts."

6 days after his demise, his wish remains fulfilled. Last night, the government announced that the liquor shops can re-open (in quite a few zones) with effect from today (Monday). This has been done to take the first steps to regenerate the economy.

Rishi loved to drink and eat. For those who missed our Niranjan Iyengar's reminiscence on him yesterday, the Student Of The Year writer had said, to the tune of, "Rishi loved to drink. He was also a foodie who even often went to the kitchen to see kya pakk raha hai aur kaise pakk raha hai."

What had followed after his tweets was the usual netizens' dance. You know how it is, once anybody amongst us expresses an opinion. But I do not wish to reproduce those tweets as it amounts to giving them bhav. Wonder whether they knew that the sale of liquor gives a huge amount to the government in terms of taxation.  However,  this will work out if and only if people take adequate precautions and not be foolish like the manner in which they've been thronging wine shops since morning.

What's making the heart however unhappy is that: Alas! The government should have taken the decision on liquor shops, earlier. At least,  Rishi would have seen it then.
