Somy Ali On Salman Khan Physically Abusing Her: ‘Eight Years I Spent With Him Were Worst Years Of My Entire Existence, He Would Insult Me In Front Of Others’
Somy Ali says the eight years she spent with Salman Khan were the 'worst years of her entire existence' and that not a day went by when he wouldn't make her feel ‘worthless’
Former actress-turned-social activist Somy Ali often makes headlines due to her past relationship with Salman Khan. She has been very vocal about suffering at the hands of the actor in public. In her recent Instagram post, Somy spoke about suffering physical and mental abuse while they were together for eight long years. Ali also said the eight years she spent with Salman were the worst years of her entire existence and that not a day went by when he wouldn't make her feel ‘worthless and small.’
On Friday, Somy Ali shared a throwback picture of her alongside a long note where she revealed why she deleted her posts in the past. The former actress wrote, “Yes, because I had used profanity and my anger got the best of me. As an executive director of an NGO, it did not sit well with me to have profane posts on my social media. Thus, I deleted them.”
Talking about one question that people often ask her—what happened between Somy Ali and Salman Khan? Replying to this, Somy said, “The eight years spent with him were the worst years of my entire existence. In addition to tons of affairs and flings he would constantly belittle me by calling me ugly, stupid, and dumb. Not a day went by that he wouldn't make me feel worthless and small. She added, “I have no qualms in saying that given his treatment of me I chose to have affairs which essentially defined as a search for someone who would care for me and love me. Someone who would not insult me and would actually be nice to me. Unfortunately, I was unaware that these men were simply using me and I was building a future with each affair while I was simply being used. When Salman learned of these affairs he had the guts to after beating me saying that I am a man and only men can cheat not women. I was aghast at that statement and the sexism that reeked from it. Let's not forget that just because Salman or anyone else is nice to you, they are the same with others. I had it the worst in terms of verbal, sexual, and physical abuse.”
For the unversed, Salman and Somy were in a relationship for many years. The former actress reportedly had a huge crush on the actor when she was just 16 and came especially from the US to marry Khan. In an interview, she revealed that she broke up with Salman because he cheated on her.
Somy Ali is now a social activist and runs an NGO that highlights the plight of rape and domestic violence victims.
