Sona Mohapatra Bashes News Channel For Working With #MeToo Accused Kailash Kher; Reminds Them Of His ‘Deviant, Predatory Behaviour’

Sona Mohapatra has always been vocal about social issues and was at the forefront during the Me Too movement. She had constantly called out Indian Idol 11 judge Anu Malik after he was reinstated by the channel as a judge. Back in 2018, Sona Mohapatra had also accused singer Kailash Kher of sexually harassing her. In a series of tweets, she had shared in detail her ordeal. Now, a news channel recently roped in Kailash Kher for one of its tributes to Corona heroes, and Sona Mohapatra bashed the channel for working with someone who had been accused of sexual harassment.

Sona Mohapatra took to her Twitter and reminded them of the people who spoke up against Kailash Kher’s ‘deviant, predatory’ behavior. She wrote, “Who cares about the multiple women including several journalists who spoke up publicly about this man & his deviant, predatory behaviour during @IndiaMeToo? @CNNnews18gets a free entertainment slot filled up & Kailash gets to virtue signal his way to piety. #Fail.” A quick look at the comments shows that Twitterati was divided. While many agreed with Sona, a few pointed out that the allegations and charges were not proved and so, he shouldn’t be shunned.

One user wrote, “That's just sad. No dearth of good artists and they go for someone who was called out for his predatory behaviour by multiple women? #MeToo@IndiaMeToo,” while another user wrote, “If the charges are proved than kailash kher should be ashamed , If the charges are not proved , then Sona Mohapatra should be ashamed to malign image of a good singer .. Please share proof that kailash kher is guilty...”


Recounting her experience with Kailash Khe, Sona Mohapatra had tweeted in 2018, “I met Kailash for coffee in Prithvi Café to discuss a forthcoming concert where both our bands were playing & after the usual, a hand on my thigh with lines likes, your so beautiful, feel so good that a ‘musician got you’ (Ram) not an actor. I left not soon after. That did not deter Kailash Kher though.
