In Bollywood, fights are never a thing of the past. You don't know when they come back to haunt you. Sonu Nigam will vouch for that. Ditto Subhash Chandra Goel, the head honcho of Zee Media.

The story goes, in March this year, the singer had recorded 2 songs for Ishq Forever, which stars Calendar Girls actress Ruhi Singh and newcomer Krishna Chaturvedi. The film is produced by Shabbir Boxwala, who has previously worked with director Rajiv Rai on films like Mohra, Gupt and Pyaar Ishq Aur Mohabbat.

Shabbir then took the music rights of Ishq Forever to Sony Music India, which turned it down. Reason? Sony had already invested a lot in Dilwale.

Shabbir even thought of approaching T-Series but instantly struck the idea off. The music of Shabbir's film is composed by Nadeem Saifi of Nadeem-Shravan fame. The music composer has been accused in the Gulshan Kumar murder case and since 1997, has been on a self-imposed exile in London.

Next, Shabbir went to Zee Music Company with the rights. The result made him heave a sigh of relief - the music company agreed to come on board. All good? Not so soon.

A few days later, Shabbir was called to Zee office and told in no uncertain terms that Sonu should be dropped from the project. Seems, a shell-shocked Shabbir was told of the history between Sonu and Goel.

The two, we hear, had a nasty fight at a bash that Amar Singh had hosted to celebrate the 50th birthday of Mrs Sangeetha Seetharaman (wife of Dr R Seetharaman, CEO of Global Doha Bank) in April this year (We Know What Amar Singh Did Last Night, April 28).

A source told 9xe, "Sonu had an ugly spat with Subhash Chandra Goel at that party. Goel hasn't forgotten it. So it's only obvious that Zee wouldn't want to work with Sonu at all."

Shabbir had no option but to drop those 2 songs. He informed Sonu of the developments - the poor singer could do little about it.

When contacted, Shabbir said, "We have already scrapped the songs sung by Sonu and recorded one of them with Javed Ali. I'm looking for another singer who can step into Sonu's shoes for the second number."
