Sourav Ganguly Confirms A Biopic Based On His Life; Ranbir Kapoor In Race To Play Dada?
Another biopic on another cricketer is on the cards. Yes, you read that right! A biopic on former Indian skipper and President of Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), Sourav Ganguly is in the making. In a recent interview to News 18, Ganguly has confirmed that a biopic will be made on him. However, if you’re wondering who will play the titular role? Well, it is said that Sourav thinks actor Ranbir Kapoor should play him on the big screen.

In an interview with News 18 Bangla, Sourav Ganguly confirmed the news as he was quoted saying, “Yes, I have agreed to the biopic. It will be in Hindi but it is not possible to reveal the name of the director now. It will take some more time for everything to be finalised.” Interestingly, apart from Ranbir, two more actors are also in the rat race to bag the lead role. Earlier, talking about his biopic, Neha Dhupia had suggested that actor Hrithik Roshan would be the best choice to play Sourav Ganguly on screen.

But the former cricketer quipped, "But he’s got to get a body like me, first. Lot of people would say the way Hrithik’s body is, how good-looking he is, and how muscular he is, people would say ‘Aree, you’ll have to get a body like Hrithik’. But, Hrithik will have to get a body like me before he starts." The report also states that a big banner will be producing the film and the budget is being set anywhere between Rs 200 to Rs 250 Crores.

So far, we have seen a biopic of MS Dhoni which was a super hit. The film was headlined by the late Sushant Singh Rajput. Former India captain Mohammad Azharuddin too had a biopic that starred Emraan Hashmi. There was also a documentary movie on iconic Sachin Tendulkar.

Meanwhile, there is a biopic on legendary cricketer Kapil Dev as well which is titled, ’83. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, and it is yet to be released.
