According to a report in IANS, Mumbai Police will record filmmaker Shekhar Kapur’s statement as part of the investigation in Sushant Singh Rajput’s death.  Shekhar Kapur had indicated in his tweet that he knew the pain Sushant was going through and was to direct ‘Paani’ starring Sushant at one point for Yash Raj Films (YRF),  however, it later got shelved. In his tweet, Shekhar Kapur had tweeted, “I knew the pain you were going through. I knew the story of the people that let you down so bad that you would weep on my shoulder. I wish Iwas around the last 6 months. I wish you had reached out to me. What happened to you was their Karma. Not yours. #SushantSinghRajput.”

Sushant’s Dil Bechara co-star Sanjana Sanghi, director Mukesh Chhabra, Sushant’s rumoured girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty, Yash Raj Films' casting director Shanoo Sharma, are among those who have already recorded their statements.

Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh had stated that the Mumbai Police will also probe the angle of ‘professional rivalry. He had tweeted, “While the post mortem report says the actor committed suicide by hanging himself, there are media reports that he allegedly suffered from clinical depression because of professional rivalry.
