Sushant Singh Rajput Death: Koena Mitra Slams Bollywood: ‘There Are Many More Sushants In Our Industry; Nepotism, Gundagiri Has Become A Habit’
Sushant Singh Rajput’s death on Sunday created a shockwave, and the film industry as well as the actors many fans were all left in disbelief. The actor, aged 34, dies of suicide. His death sparked conversations about not just mental health, but also about the obvious nepotism in Bollywood. Koena Mitra, in a recent interview, slammed the film industry, calling out its hypocrisy. She also hit out at filmmaker Karan Johar and said that he doesn’t have the license of this industry.

While speaking to The Times Of India, Koena said she read about Sushant being treated like an outsider and said he’s not the first one. “The film industry will not treat you like family till the time your family doesn’t belong to the industry or if you are not a camp follower. It's pretty sad. He's not the first one and there are many such Sushants in our industry,” she said. Koena said that Bollywood is no longer about celebrating art and that nepotism, bias and gundagiri has become a habit now. She also slammed Karan Johar and said, “Karan Johar does not have the license of this industry. It is shown as if he presents or rejects something then it is the ultimate thing. But no, the industry is an ocean and we are tiny little drops in it. He is also a drop in it. No one can decide who works and who should be rejected.”

She said that after people’s demise, Bollywood will come out with essays and beautiful notes; but when the people are alive, their bread will be snatched.

Koena Mitra also shared one such example where after she performed with Vivek Oberoi at a show, she was invited by a superstar and told that people will corner her now as Vivek isn’t liked by a certain camp. “I was told again, and again, how it will destroy me because I was seen with him. I don’t understand why the industry has to choose sides if two people have problems. If you choose a master then everything is okay otherwise you are bad,” she said.
