In the days following Sushant Singh Rajput’s death last month, there had been outrage on social media as debates about nepotism in Bollywood were reignited once again. While Mumbai Police is already investigating Sushant Singh Rajput’s death, many of the late actor’s fans demanded a Central Bureau Of Investigation (CBI) inquiry. Just yesterday, Sushant’s girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty also requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah for a CBI probe. Now, Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh has said that a CBI probe isn’t required, Mumbai Police is competent enough to handle the case.
Yesterday, Rhea Chakraborty tweeted, “Respected @AmitShah sir, I'm Sushant Singh Rajput's girlfriend Rhea Chakraborty. It has been over a month since his sudden demise. I have complete faith in the government. However, in the interest of justice, I request you with folded hands to initiate a CBI inquiry into this matter. I only want to understand what pressures prompted Sushant to take this step. Yours sincerely #satyamevajayate." However, Mid-Day quoted Maharashtra Home Minister Anil Deshmukh saying that he doesn’t think a CBI probe is required.
“I have the tweets and the campaign. But I don't think that a CBI probe is required. The Mumbai Police is competent enough to handle such cases and they are investigating every aspect of the case including professional rivalry. As of now, we do not see any foul play. Details of the investigation will be shared once it is completed,” said Anil Deshmukh.
In other news, Rhea Chakraborty also shared a screenshot of the rape threats she received after Sushant Singh Rajput’s death. In her caption, she mentioned how she was called a gold digger, a murderer, and that she was also slut-shamed.
