Sushant Singh Rajput Demise: Actor Manoj Bajpayee Recalls How Sonchiriya Co-Star Touched His Feet On Sets; Says ‘My Mind Is Not Leaving The Image’
Bollywood lost actor Sushant Singh Rajput on June 14, 2020, due to suicide. The actor passed away after a long battle with depression when he hung himself in his Mumbai residence. Since then, many celebrities, and political leaders also took to social media to offer condolences to the bereaved family. After actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s untimely demise, his Sonchiriya co-star, actor Manoj Bajpayee recalls how the late actor touched his feet on the first day of the shoot. Manoj Bajpayee also mentioned how his mind is not leaving Sushant’s image.

During an Instagram live with Shekhar Kapur, Manoj Bajpayee said, “My mind is not leaving the image of him on the first day, coming to me and suddenly touching my feet.” As the actor shared about how Sushant Singh Rajput had touched his feet, he added, “All the perceptions that people were floating about him, that one gesture of his just questioned everything. Not that he touched my feet...it just says so many things about his background, where he came from.”

Moving on, during the live conversation, Manoj Bajpayee shared how Sushant and he hailed from Bihar and mentioned how the journey of getting to know him as an actor and a person started from there. Sushant’s Sonchiriya co-star went on to share how the late actor was excited and thrilled that they were shooting in the same location where Bandit Queen was shot. Talking about Sushant further, Bajpayee shared how he would observe the late actor working on his movements, dialogue delivery and craft from a distance and be fascinated.


Manoj Bajpayee also went on to reveal how Sushant Singh Rajput would be thankful when he gave him inputs on his performance and said, “Rarely, you see actors feeling so grateful for the small suggestions that you give a co-actor.” Speaking about the person SSR was, Manoj Bajpayee shared how he would always think of him as a ‘happy’ and ‘jumpy’ person on the set, reading books on quantum physics and excitedly showing his telescope to people.

Meanwhile, as Manoj Bajpayee remembered Sushant Singh Rajput and the person he was, he continued, “I am finding it so difficult to come to terms with the fact that those images are going to be of the past.” Actor Sushant Singh Rajput who passed away at the age of 34 had worked his way up the success ladder before making it big in Bollywood.
