Journalist and Republic TV editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami was arrested by the Maharashtra Police on Wednesday morning. Reportedly, the police officials entered Goswami’s home and arrested him. He is arrested in connection to an old abetment to suicide case, that was registered back in 2018 and reopened in May 2020. Now, after Goswami’s arrest, Swara Bhasker reacts and expressed what she felt about it. The Veere Di Wedding actress also shared a list of journalists whose arrest did not make it to the headlines, amidst all the uproar surrounding Arnab Goswami’s arrest.
On Twitter, Swara Bhasker re-tweeted a report published by The Wire. The actress tweeted, “THiS. This! This! This!!!!!!” Bhasker pointed out how Arnab Goswami’s arrest has made it to the headlines but mentioned that there are other Journalists too, who are in judicial custody, or FIR’s have been lodged against them. Saying, “ THiS. This! This! This,” Swara tried her best to get the attention of the fans and others on the list of other journalists whose arrest by the police did not make it to the headlines.
According to the report, there are 9 such cases in the country right now, a list of journalists who have FIR’s against them or were either arrested and released in the last few months. Siddique Kappan, a reporter with the Malayalam news portal azhimukham.com, was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police when he was on his way to Hathras to cover the gang-rape case. A Manipuri journalist, named Kishorechandra Wangkhem and Dhaval Patel, an editor of a Gujarati news portal was arrested on charges of sedition. Independent journalist Prashant Kanojia, who was a reporter with The Wire Hindi was arrested by the Uttar Pradesh police twice in the last two years. Assamese journalist, Rajib Sarma was arrested on a complaint of a district forest officer. A photojournalist with the Hindi daily based in Jhajjar, Haryana, Journalist and executive editor of leading Marathi news channel ABP Majha, Rahul Kulkarni, independent journalist Rajeev Sharma, and Leh correspondent of State Times Tsewang Rigzin were also arrested.

Meanwhile, actress Kangana Ranaut reacted to the arrest of Goswami. The actress reacted via a video message, while actor Anupam Kher also expressed how shocked he was on hearing about Goswami’s arrest.
