Taapsee Pannu On Calling A Critic's Review Of Haseen Dilruba A 'Personal Dig: 'It Was Written Personally. i Didn't Take It Personally'
Actor Taapsee Pannu recently made headlines after she reacted to the negative reviews that her latest release Haseen Dillruba received. The actress even branded one of the reviews as a 'personal dig'. However, now in a recent interview, the Pink actress revealed why she got annoyed over a certain review of the movie. Not just claiming that reviews were personal in nature, Taapsee also spoke about how, early in her career, she had got many of the reviews that were very embarrassing.

Speaking to Etimes, the Manmarziyaan actress was quoted as saying, “It was written personally. I didn't take it personally. Reviewers should have a decent idea of my filmography. The reviews I got in my very early days were embarrassing to an extent that anyone would think of giving up this profession.” Adding to this, Taapsee mentioned that she has always said that she is not a trained actor but someone who has learned on the job. She has never claimed to be the best actor in the industry. She has never said that she is the best choice for a film.

“Thrash my performance if you want; I have made a career out of thrashed performances. But if one writes that Taapsee is just changing clothes in every film and nothing else, it's a personal dig. That's what I called out. I thought I should stand up. People have seen me standing up for social causes and a lot of other things. But I need to stand up for myself too. Who else would stand up for me if I don't for myself? People who think that I haven't taken that review in my stride need to go back and read the reviews of my earlier films; I have had the nastiest things written about me. If I hadn't taken reviews in my stride, I wouldn't have been where I am,” Taapsee Pannu further said.

On a related note, Haseen Dillruba starred Taapsee with Vikrant Massey and Harshavardhan Rane. The Vinil Mathew’s directorial received mixed reviews from the critics and audience alike. Some reviews even called the film a glorification of 'toxic masculine love'.

Haseen Dillruba was released on July 2 on Netflix.
