It was actress Tanushree Dutta who started the MeToo movement in India in 2018 after she accused Nana Patekar of sexual harassment. Following her shocking revelations, many actresses came out in public and shared their ordeal and accused filmmakers and producers like Sajid Khan of sexual assault. Tanushree has now spoken about the controversy surrounding Sajid’s participation in Bigg Boss 16 and stated that like other MeToo victims she is appalled too.

In an interview with Etimes TV, the Aashiq Banaya Aapne actress was asked about Sajid as a contestant on Salman Khan’s show. Reacting to this, Tanushree said she is speechless at the sheer irresponsibility of this action and the impact it would have on the public. She was quoted saying, “I am appalled too. I am speechless at the sheer irresponsibility of this action and the impact it would have on the public. Dutta also revealed that her career was affected post the MeToo movement as she was finding it difficult to get work in Bollywood. 

Meanwhile, during the MeToo movement, Sajid Khan was accused of sexual assault allegations by many women. The accusations against him include flashing his private part at women, asking female actors to send him their nude pictures, and watching porn in front of women. Several celebrities including TV actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee, Urfi Javed, singer Sona Mohapatra, Mandana Karimi, Sherlyn Chopra, and DCW Chief Swati Maliwal and others have objected to Sajid Khan’s participation in Bigg Boss 16.
