Thalaivi: Kangana Ranaut Pays Special Tribute To The Iron Lady Jayalalithaa On Her Death Anniversary

The super-talented Kangana Ranaut is all set to slip into late politician Jayalalithaa’s shoes for her biopic titled Thalaivi. Only recently, the film’s teaser was dropped online and it opened to rave reviews. Right from Kangana’s physical transformation to her remarkable acting skills; Kangana seemed to have struck the right chord. Today marks the death anniversary of Jayalalithaa and, as homage to the Iron Lady of India; Kangana Ranaut observed a few minutes of silence on the sets of Thalaivi. In the picture surfaced on social media, the Queen actress could be seen paying tribute to Jayalalithaa’s portrait, which was decorated with flowers around it. Kangana was sporting a navy blue checkered dress that had floral prints on it. She was wearing a wig and we are assuming that the actress was in Jayalalithaa’s avatar. It was on December 5, 2016, that Jayalalithaa passed away due to a cardiac arrest. Kangana, in her statement, had said, “Jayalalithaa Ji is one of the biggest female success stories of this century. She was a superstar and went on to become an iconic politician.”

During a recent interacting with Mid Day, Kangana had revealed that she took a light dosage of hormone pills to put on weight around her thighs and belly. This was because the actress struggled to gain weight on her own. She said, “Vijay (producer) wanted me to resemble her as closely as possible. She (Jayalalithaa) endured a drastic physical transformation in her life. Having grown up as a Bharatanatyam dancer, she had an hour-glass figure. Then, when she joined politics, she had an accident which demanded that she be injected with huge doses of steroids. While we could not depict all of that, we did take measures."
Thalaivi will make it to the big screens on June 26, 2020.
