Kangana Ranaut has earned critical acclaim for her power-packed performance in 'Thalaivii'. The Queen star, who played the role of former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa in the film, received praises from all the corners. It was however not a cakewalk for Kangana as she had to gain 20 kg for her role in the biographical drama. The National Award-winning actress made waves with her massive transformation for the film.
As 'Thalaivii' releases on Netflix, actor Kangana Ranaut made a revelation about her weight loss-gain journey for the iconic role of late J Jayalalithaa. The biopic Thalaivii showcases various stages of the late Jayalalithaa's life, from being a young actor to a senior politician. For this, Kangana had to undergo a major physical transformation several times.
She recently took to Instagram to share her experience, detailing that doing all that in six months left “permanent stretch marks”. "Gaining 20 kgs in 6 months and losing it all within 6 months that too in my thirties messed up many things in my body… I also have permanent stretch marks as well but art comes to life with a price and more often than not price is the artist him/herself,” she wrote.
Earlier too in an interview the actress had mentioned , "In my 30s, I had to gain 20 kgs for Thalaivi and do Bharatanatyam, it left my back severely damaged but no bigger gratification than to play a role to perfection.”
