Thalaivii’s Teri Aankhon Mein Singer Prajakta Shukre On Giving Voice To Kangana Ranaut: ‘It Has Been An Amazing Feeling To Sing For The Queen Of Bollywood’-EXCLUSIVE
Indian Idol 1 contestant Prajakta Shukre, who is the voice behind Kangana Ranaut in Thalaivii’s Teri Aankhon Mein, talks about giving voice to the actress and her journey since the reality show
Kangana Ranaut-starrer Thalaivii is all set for a theatrical release in two days, and the early reviews of the film have been exceptional. The film chronicles the journey of actress turned politician Jayalalithaa, who served six times as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. The film also features Arvind Swami as M.G. Ramachandran.
Arvind and Kangana feature in the song Teri Aankhon Mein that depicts the relationship between Jayalalithaa and MGR. The song is voiced by Armaan Malik and Prajakta Shukre. This marks the second time Prajakta has given her voice to Kangana after the song Dankila in Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi.
Ask Prajakta how it has been being the voice of Kangana and she says, “It has been very wonderful and an amazing feeling to sing for one of the leading actresses who is also known as the Queen of Bollywood. It’s amazing to be her voice. The song has been picturised so well and in such an interesting way that I am myself very excited to see the whole video. There are so many looks and a mix of a lot of Jayalalitha ji’s songs in this one song.” Has she received any feedback from Kangana on it yet? “Not yet, but I wish that comes my way and I hope she liked it.”
Prajakta insists that it’s a privilege to be associated with this iconic story of a legendary person like Jayalalithaa, in whichever capacity possible. “It’s really important and a great feeling because this film is going to stay forever with all the lovers of Jayalalithaa ji and Tamil cinema. It’s a grand era movie. The first time I gave voice to Kangana was for Manikarnika and that was on Rani Lakshmibai. These stories are something we have grown up listening to, so it’s really exciting to be associated with such projects,” she says.
Speaking about her co-singer Armaan, Prajakta informs that they didn’t record the song together since it was during the lockdown time. “When I went to record the song, Armaan had already recorded his part prior to that, so it became easy for me to get the vibe as he had given it so much feel with his voice. But our voices are sounding amazing together,” she insists.
Prajakta came fourth in one of the first singing reality shows on Indian television, Indian Idol 1. Ask her how her journey has been since then and how instrumental Indian Idol has been in that, and she responds, “The journey has been nice, and I always say that I am actually learning every day. Indian Idol did give us a secure platform to pursue our career, but the real journey starts after that only. There has been a lot of change as when we came into Indian Idol, the internet was a new concept and social media wasn’t there. Yahoo messenger was the only thing. Now that so many social media platforms are there, it has given opportunities to a lot of people but it has also increased the clutter. To outshine amongst them is difficult and everyone’s individual journey.” Prajakta signs off by revealing the name of the actress she wants to give her voice to next, “Deepika Padukone, as I really love her.”
