There’s more to Rhea Chakraborty’s ‘roses are red’ t-shirt that she wore when she appeared for NCB questioning. The T-shirt is actually a part of the campaign run by an online clothing company, and the NGO they collaborated with, works on bringing safe sanitary solutions to women in rural areas
Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on Tuesday after three consecutive days of interrogation of the actress in the drugs probe linked to Sushant Singh Rajput’s death case. When Rhea appeared before the NCB for her third round of questioning, she wore a black tee and the message on that t-shirt caught everyone’s attention. Her T-Shirt read "Roses are red, violets are blue, Let’s smash patriarchy, Me and you", and after Rhea’s arrest, this message went viral on social media, with Bollywood celebs such as Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Vidya Balan, Farhan Akhtar and others sharing it, and showing their support to Rhea Chakraborty. ‘
While the t-shirt hit the headlines for what was written on it, there’s more to the ‘roses are red’ t-shirt. The T-shirt is actually a part of the campaign run by an online clothing company- The Souled Store- and the NGO (Give Her 5) that they collaborated with, works on bringing safe sanitary solutions to women in rural areas. The official #RosesAreRed campaign page of The Souled Store features celebrities such as Rahul Bose, Dia Mirza, Tanmay Bhat wearing the ‘Roses are red’ tees with different poems. “Our range includes t-shirts and badges which contain 12 ‘Roses Are Red’ poems centred around feminism which highlight various gender based issues faced by women on a daily basis,” reads the campaign on The Souled Store.
It also mentioned that 1 t-shirt sold would equal to 1 girl’s yearly requirement of sanitary napkins. Give Her 5, the NGO which collaborated with The Souled Store, distribute Saafkins- reusable sanitary napkins, hold informative workshops, and more.
Rhea Chakraborty’s t-shirt made a statement on the day of her questioning and the message written on the tee went viral on social media.
