Actress Aishwarya Rai Bachchan in an epitome of beauty as she has aged like fine wine. As she turns a year older today, we bring to you the time she had addressed rumours about marrying a tree before she tied the knot with Abhishek Bachchan. For those who don’t know, back in the day, it was heavily reported that she was asked by her in-laws to marry a tree to remove her Mangal grah before her wedding with her husband. Rubbishing the rumours she had recalled how even the international media had questioned her about the absurd rumours.
Addressing the speculations, during an interview, she had explained how shocking it was. Quoted by Bollywood Life, the 50-year-old actress said, “While we would like to imagine that it is a passing phase, it gets logged. And I recognised it at times when you get to travel abroad, of which there is ample opportunity... Not only was the actress left irked by the constant rumours, but even her in-laws and hubby had taken digs at it in various media interactions. While in 2016, Abhishek tweeted, “And just for the record, we are still looking for this tree,” Big B has denied it. Talking to Times Network during an interview in 2007, he had said, “Where is the tree? Please show it to me. The only person she’s married to is my son. For the unversed, Aishwarya Rai tied the knot with Abhishek Bachchan in 2007 in Mumbai in a closed-off ceremony and welcomed their daughter Aaradhya in 2011. In a throwback interview, talking about Aishwarya’s pregnancy, her father-in-law, Amitabh Bachchan, praised her for giving birth without painkillers or epidurals.
On the work front, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan was last seen in the pan-Indian film Ponniyin Selvan 2, a sequel to Ponniyin Selvan 1. The Mani Ratnam directorial also stars Trisha Krishnan, Vikram and Karthi among many others.
