Urmila Matondkar Likely To Join Shiv Sena, After Her Exit From Congress Post 2019 Lok Sabha Elections Defeat-REPORT

Actor turned politician, Urmila Matondkar made it to the headlines when she joined the Congress party. Later, the Rangeela actress contested in the 2019 Lok Sabha elections on a Congress ticket from the Mumbai North constituency but lost the seat to a BJP candidate. Months after her Lok Sabha elections defeat, the actress quit Congress. She also released a statement on the same and cited ‘petty in-house politics’ as the reason. According to the latest report, Matondkar is planning to get into politics again.
PTI reported that Urmila Matondkar is likely to join Shiv Sena. The report stated that the actress is likely to join the party, almost fifteen months after she quit the Congress. As per the report, Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s close aide, Harshal Pradhan said that Matondkar will be joining the party. He mentioned that the 46-years-old actor turned politician will join Shiv Sena on Tuesday, December 1, in the presence of the Maharashtra CM. The report also stated that Matondkar’s name is among the 11 others nominated to the Legislative Council, under the Governor’s quota by the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
Shiv Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut was also quoted saying, “She [Urmila Matondkar] is a Shiv Sainik only. She will join the party by tomorrow. Our mahila aghadi is getting stronger.” Meanwhile, Urmila Matondkar reacted to the reports about her joining Shiv Sena on December 1. DNA reported that Matondkar denied joining the political party. She said, “No, I am not,” when asked about her joining Shiv Sena.
