Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan and Ekta Kapoor have been featured in Variety 500 annual list of ‘Important People in Global Media’. They are three of the ten Indians to have featured on the list
With 2019 coming to a close, Variety 500 unveiled its annual list of ‘Important People in Global Media’. The list features names from all around the world of the most impactful people working in media. Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, made the cut and are two out of the ten Indians to have featured on the list this year. Also on the list are filmmakers Aditya Chopra, Ronnie Screwala, Siddharth Roy Kapur and Ekta Kapoor, Eros International’s Kishore Lulla, Disney’s Uday Shankar, Sun’s Kalinthi Maran, and Reliance Industries’ Mukesh Ambani.
Shah Rukh Khan’s profile in Variety described him as ‘one of Indian cinema's great global romantic stars, winning most popular actor three times at the Central European Bollywood Awards.’ It also read, “Inducted into AMPAS in 2018, Khan has been making his mark for decades: His romance Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge has been playing nonstop for 24 years, and Dil Se was the first Indian film to break into the U.K. top 10. He also co-owns cricket teams Kolkata Knight Riders and Trinbago Knight Riders.” As for Aamir Khan, he is called ‘the admitted perfectionist’ in his Variety profile, and it also mentioned some of his hit films.
Also on the same list as Shah Rukh Khan, Aamir Khan, Ekta Kapoor and others are some popular Hollywood names such as A Beautiful Day in the Neighbourhood’s Tom Hanks, Black Widow star Scarlett Johansson, Captain Marvel star Brie Larson, Avengers director Joe Russo and Watchmen star Regina King among many others.
