Gully Boy actor Vijay Raaz was arrested by Gondia police for allegedly molesting a female crew member on the sets of Vidya Balan starrer Sherni in Madhya Pradesh. Reportedly, the victim was sitting when Vijay yanked her arm to call for her attention and she lost her temper. Another eyewitness alleged that this was not the first time that Vijay had misbehaved with her and she felt harassed. After Vijay understood that his action was uncalled for, he promptly apologised to her, but she was inconsolable. Soon after, the actor was arrested from a five-star hotel on Tuesday. However, the latest update on the case suggests that director Amit Masurkar and producer Vikram Malhotra further set up an Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) to probe the matter, as per a report published in Mid-Day.
After the arrest, the actor was later released on bail and reportedly, Raaz returned to Sherni sets to complete the impending shoot. However, the same daily reported that he did not resume shooting but have returned to Mumbai for the probe. The daily quoted the source as saying, “Vijay left for Mumbai on Tuesday after he was granted bail. He didn’t even return to the hotel where he had been put up. The production head informed the crew on Wednesday that Vijay won’t be resuming work. The makers will decide on the punitive action against Vijay once the ICC ruling is out. For now, they have their eyes set on completing the shoot by the weekend.”
Earlier, a source close to the sets and a friend of the complainant revealed that this was the 4th time Vijay Raaz was rude to her on the sets of Sherni. The source said, “Harassment manifests in many forms, and this is also a kind of harassment. Why would a senior actor take the liberty to touch a woman on a set? I don't know if he meant to behave badly or not, but he eventually did.”
