Whaaat! Sushant Replaces Varun In The Fault In Our Stars Remake

It's funny how things work out in Bollywood.
Not too long ago, Sushant Singh Rajput was mighty pissed when his Raabta got shelved. Today, it's turned out to be lucky for him.
How? The guy just bagged the male lead in The Fault In Our Stars remake, thanks to it.

Raabta was to be directed by Homi Adajania. The director had a chunk of Sushant's dates during August-September for the movie. Of course, it all went for a toss when Raabta's leading lady Alia Bhatt decided to up and leave the project.
Why waste the dates, thought Homi. He signed Sushant for The Fault In Our Stars remake, that is being produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions. Homi already had Deepika Padukone on board for the love story.
Interestingly, rumours were rife that Varun Dhawan will be romancing Deepika in the ill-fated love story. However, the ABCD 2 star is currently busy with Dilwale and will soon start shooting for Dishoom. So that leaves his date diary full.
Homi didn't want to wait that long for Varun and was more than glad to get Sushant on board.
So it will be Sushant and Deepika for the desi adaptation of the 2014 Hollywood drama.
