Model-actress Gauahar Khan in a recent interview has opened up about losing one of the biggest projects of her career just because of her good looks. She revealed that she lost out on a role in Danny Boyle’s Slumdog Millionaire because of her pretty face. The Bigg Boss 7 winner mentioned that Danny auditioned her multiple times for Freida Pinto and Dev Patel starrer-that went on to become the biggest blockbuster of all time but he could not cast her because of her good looks.
Speaking with Film Companion, the actress said, “One of the biggest projects I lost in my life was because I was too good looking for it, and it was Slumdog millionaire. I have met Danny Boyle, and I have done five rounds of auditions for it. After the fifth round he said ‘you’re a fantastic actor, are you sure you’re trained in India?’ At that time, I had hardly an experience, and I said ‘I’ve trained in India’. He said, ‘you speak like an actor who is from out of India, not from India, so how do you have this experience?’ I said ‘sir I don’t know, I just try and do it every single day.” ALSO READ: Gauahar Khan Shuts Down Troll Who Said She Broke Up With Kushal Tandon Over Religious Differences; ‘Loser, Stop Inciting Hate In My Country’
Khan went on to reveal that Danny Boyle said despite being a fab actor, he won’t be able to cast her because he had to match three age groups in the films. “I can’t place you in a Slumdog Millionaire with your face. I said, ‘I can be in a slum’,” Gauahar further added. The Begum Jaan actress, however, mentioned that she has no regrets about it as she is glad she met Danny Boyle, who thought she was ‘a great actor’.
Gauahar Khan is known for her performance in movies like Vidya Balan’s Begum Jaan, Badrinath Ki Dulhania, 14 Phere, and others. She ventured into acting with Ranbir Kapoor’s comedy ‘Rocket Singh: Salesman of the Year’.
